Martha's Vineyard, a Paducah charity that has provided meals for those in need for the past 28 years, is in need of funds.

Director Martha Bell commented Friday on the Greg Dunker Show that many of the mission's long time cash donors have passed away. As a result, she is now having to use her own savings and sell stocks in order to keep the mission operating.

Bell pointed out that they would deliver 103 meals on Friday, and these are to people who have, in the past, been Paducah's workers, and are now in need of help.

She explained that they do get adequate donations of food, but it is the cash donations that are lacking at this time. She said that this can be done by either going to the local utility companies and paying on their accounts, or by sending them a check. Checks can be mailed to:

1100 North 12th Street    or    P.O. Box 8307
Paducah, KY  42001                Paducah, KY  42002

Bell stressed that this is a serious shortage and they are not sure what the next move will be if the funding does not come in. The Martha's Vineyard Mission can be contacted at (270)-575-0021.
