Police have issued arrest warrants for an Illinois man who pulled a gun Saturday morning inside a Paducah movie theater.

According to Paducah Police, 64-year-old John Grabinski of Ozark, Illinois is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree disorderly conduct, and fourth-degree assault and menacing. The McCracken County Attorney, in consultation with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, recommended the charges late Monday afternoon. District Judge Tony Kitchen signed the warrants Tuesday morning.

38-year-old John Hempen of Paducah told police Grabinski began cursing his 14-year-old son for kicking the back of his seat at a showing of Star Trek Beyond at the Paducah Cinemark theater. Hempen said he got involved and he and Grabinski began arguing. He and several witnesses said Grabinski pushed him, and the two began fighting.

Police said Hempen and other witnesses told them Grabinski was knocked to the ground, and got up brandishing a handgun. Others in the theater saw the gun, and began running for the exit. Three men – theater employees and patrons – escorted Grabinski from the theater and were outside with him with officers arrived.

Grabinski has not yet been arrested.
