An Illinois man has pleaded guilty to threatening a Paducah Tilghman High School student on the same day as the shooting at Marshall County High School in January.

Court records show 19-year-old DeTaveon Day of Mattoon, Illinois entered a guilty plea Monday in McCracken County Circuit Court to third degree terroristic threatening and harassing communications.

Day was arrested Jan. 26, three days after a detective was called to Paducah Tilghman High School to a report that he had threatened a 17-year-old girl. The girl told police Day had taken responsibility for the shooting at Marshall County, and said that she "was next".

Prosecutors are asking that Day be sentenced to a year in jail. His formal sentencing hearing is scheduled for Sept. 5.
