A Paducah man was injured Saturday when his motorcycle collided with a car.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene on Watson Road at 1:35 pm. Their investigation determined that 74-year-old Gerald Hopkins was riding a 1954 Gladden Mustang motorcycle eastbound at a slow speed. A car being driven by 30-year-old Caleb Norton of Paducah was behind Hopkins, and moved into the opposite lane of travel to pass the motorcycle when it was safe to pass. Deputies say as Norton's vehicle passed Hopkins, he made an abrupt left turn and struck the side of the car.

Hopkins was not wearing a helmet at the time, and was taken to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment of his injuries.

Mercy EMS and Reidland-Farley Fire and Rescue helped at the scene.
