A Benton man was hurt Friday morning in a crash involving a deer.

McCracken County Sheriff’s Deputies responded Shortly before 9:00 am to a single-vehicle injury accident on US68/Benton Road. Deputies said that 69-year-old Charles Don Adams, of Benton was driving east on US 68 when he swerved to miss a dear in the road. His vehicle then ran off the road and down a steep hillside, traveled through a fence, and hit a fire hydrant before hitting a tree head on.

Adams was taken to a local hospital for treatment of significant injuries.
