According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 6:25 pm, a deputy was dispatched to the area of 2849 Cairo Road in reference to a vehicle that had run off the roadway. Upon arrival, the deputy identified the driver of the vehicle as 25-year-old Jonathan R. Adams, of Joppa, IL.
Adams told deputies that he swerved to avoid a deer and ran off the road. But upon further investigation, the deputy learned that Adams was under the influence of prescription medications. The deputy allegedly found a bag of prescription pills on Adams.
Adams was arrested and transported to the McCracken County Jail. Adams is charged with possession of controlled substance and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
