PADUCAH - A judge has sentenced a McCracken County man to life in prison for the rape of a 7-year-old child.

Court records show McCracken County Circuit Judge Tim Kaltenbach sentenced 35-year-old Samuel Hunter to life in prison Monday after a jury found him guilty in December of first-degree rape of a child under 12. The jury recommended the life sentence.

Hunter also faces a charge of first-degree sexual abuse of a child under age 12 in an unrelated case. A pretrial conference in that case has been scheduled for May 10.
