A man faces robbery and other charges, after police say he tried to rob a Paducah hotel.

According to Paducah Police, an employee of the Baymont Inn at 5300 Cairo Road called police just after 6:00 am Monday. Police said the employee told them a man had come into the hotel with brass knuckles and demanded money. The employee said he refused and picked up the phone to call police.

Police said the would-be robber, 24-year-old Clinton Miller of Paducah then reportedly attempted to crawl over the counter, but apparently changed his mind and fled out the back door of the hotel. Officers responded and set up a perimeter around the building. They said Miller crawled under a vehicle, then fled on foot again.

Police chased Miller through a field and caught him in a ditch near Olivet Church Road. Police said they found the brass knuckles Miller had used in the attempted robbery in the area where he was caught.

Police charged Miller with first-degree robbery, third-degree burglary and second-degree fleeing or evading police. He was booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.
