A Paducah man was arrested Saturday for the attempted murder of his neighbor.

McCracken County Sheriff's Department responded to 2730 Pool Road after a 911 call was received at 9:29 pm, reporting that a man had an injury to his throat. When deputies arrived, a man was on the front porch holding a knife, and appeared to have blood on his hands, face and clothing. Deputies told 53-year-old Jeffery L. Anderson of 2740 Pool Road to put down the knife, and he was taken to the Sheriff’s Department for questioning. The victim, 42-year-old Russell Horton was inside the home, and was taken to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment of his injuries.

Anderson told deputies there have been problems between the two men for many years, and he had pulled a knife on Horton before, but this is the first time that he actually cut him. Both men had been drinking since early that afternoon when the argument erupted again. Anderson told deputies that he knew Horton did not carry a weapon.

Horton received lacerations on his arms and across his throat.  He was admitted to the hospital in stable condition, but was being closely monitored by staff due to the amount of blood he lost. Anderson was charged with attempted murder and taken McCracken County Regional Jail.
