A Paducah man was arrested twice late last week after incidents in his neighborhood.

Paducah Police records show they arrested 44-year-old Howard Gorbaty early Friday morning on Rucker Avenue, after he allegedly fired shots at a man. That man and a woman who lives across the street from Gorbaty both told police that Gorbaty had some kind of disagreement with her.

When the man arrived at her house, reports say Gorbaty fired two shots at him, striking the woman's home.  The male victim told police that Gorbaty spoke to him when arrived, and then asked if he "wanted to kill him," before firing the shots. Police reports say Gorbaty initially told them he fired in self-defense because the man was trying to get into his home, but later admitted the man was not on his property. The citation indicates two bullet holes were found in the home, and the angles of their impact didn't match Gorbaty's story. He was arrested for 1st degree wanton endangerment.

Late Friday night, police were called to the area again, because Gorbaty was allegedly walking around the area with a flashlight. When confronted, police say he produced a court order requiring he have no contact with the woman, but officers verified that he was released as long as he did not come within 1,000 yards of the victim's home. Based on the fact that Gorbaty's house is across the street, police arrested him again around midnight for violating the terms of his release.

Gorbaty was taken to McCracken County Jail again, but has since been released on bail.
