Dr. Waldrop expressed enthusiasm for the opening of intermediate classrooms, "Today marks another series of promises kept by the McCracken County Board of Education:
* No more over-crowding at any school in McCracken County, by not having any more mobile units (the trailers) we are saving more than $110,000 each year;
* Taking the best from Lone Oak Elementary and Hendron Lone Oak Elementary to create a new focus on just the fourth and fifth grades;
* Enhanced math and reading curriculum with many new opportunities such as Art, Orchestra, Band, Choir, a focus on STEM and other enrichments, even book clubs;
* Forming new partnerships with universities and businesses;
* Every teacher who teaches here chose this school as first choice."
Waldrop added, "McCracken County High School has rightly drawn much attention with its opening, however this school along with the other 11 schools of our District make the same impact on the lives of the students who attend here. Learning is cumulative. Every year of learning builds on the ones before. College and Career readiness is as important in the 4th and 5th grade as it is in high school. There is much important learning that takes place throughout this District, none any more important than that which will take place here. Tour through the school and meet everyone here. Make it the first of many visits you make to our schools this year in support of the best education we can provide our children. Catch the enthusiasm we all share today."
