A film by Paducah Economic Development was recently recognized by the International Economic Development Council at the Annual Conference in Toronto, Ontario.

The film, shot and edited by local company Socially Present, told the story of the renovation of the historic Coca-Cola Bottling Plant and the vision of two local entrepreneurs, Ed and Meagan Musselman. The Coke Plant is now home to nine new businesses that provide almost 300 jobs and well over $15 million a year to the local economy.

They received the Bronze Award in Excellence for Video/Multimedia Promotion - Real Estate Redevelopment & Reuse in the category of cities with a population less than 25,000.

"It's wonderful that Paducah's cherished Coke Plant was recognized on an international stage," PED President Scott Darnell said. "We have supported this project from the beginning and recognize the huge impact it has on the community and economy."

IEDC's Excellence in Economic Development Awards recognize the world's best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year's most influential leaders. This year, a total of 34 awards were given honoring organizations and individuals for their efforts in creating positive change in urban, suburban, and rural communities.

PED serves as the economic development agency for Paducah and McCracken County. This private-public partnership seeks to attract, grow, expand and retain businesses, generating continued economic growth for the region.
