For the 11th year in a row, local "celebrities" will be dancing towards a cure for cancer. The American Cancer Society's annual "Dancing With Our Stars" gala is set for Saturday, March 25th at the Julian Carroll Convention Center in downtown Paducah. The doors will open at 6 p.m. and the competition gets underway at 7 p.m. This year's lineup includes...

-Kurt Barber, head football coach at Paducah Tilghman High School

-Heather Butterbaugh, interior designer at A & K Construction

-Michael Ceglinski, principal at McCracken County High School

-Janice Cleary, VP/Loan Officer at Paducah Bank

-Amy Hollowell, Senior Sales Represenative at Eli Lilly and Company

-Stephanie Houser, co-owner and operator at Taco John's on Jackson Street

-Conrad Love, area supervisor of McDonald's and member of Ronald McDonald House Charities

-AJ Martin, morning radio personality on Electric 96-9 and realtor with Re/Max Realty Group

-Trent Okerson, WPSD Local 6 meteorologist

This year's professional dance partners include Daniel Baine, Christy Bowkamp, Marissa Chick, David Forsman, Anna Henderson, Ashley Henley, Freddie Hicks, Tiffany Okerson, Marci Paris and Trish Steckenrider.

The winner of Dancing With Our Stars is determined by which celebrity raises the most money. "Voting" with money takes place after each performance. The "stars" also raise money through the sale of tickets, sponsorships and silent auction items. Last year, $276,000 was raised and for the first time in the event's history, two participants shared the top prize. Gina Foster and Daniel Jones each raised the same amount of money, which goes towards the Relay For Life of McCracken County, the biggest fundraiser of the year for the American Cancer Society.

The night is also a chance to honor cancer survivors. Each year, two "survivor superstars" are honored. This year's survivors receiving that recognition are Tammy Bohannon and Dale Hancock.

There's still time to purchase a table for the event, or you may purchase single tickets for $75. Call the Paducah office of the American Cancer Society at 270-444-0743 for additional details.
