Large Crowd Attends Lt. Gov Debate in Paducah

Hundreds of people turned out for the Lt. Gubernatorial debate sponsored by the Paducah Chamber of Commerce, Thursday afternoon.  With just over a month to go before the General Election across Kentucky, the candidates are beginning to hammer down the message of what they stand for.



Jenean Hampton (R) and Sannie Overly (D) took the stage at the debate that was carried live on LifeTalk 102.5 and streamed on West Kentucky Star.



The debate had a four member media panel that peppered the candidates with different questions regarding how they intended to help western Kentucky with growth, and the overall state economy.  



One of the questions asked was in reference to Gubernatorial Candidate Matt Bevin's comment during a debate earlier this week regarding who he would vote for President.  Bevin said he would vote for Ben Carson when only a few minutes earlier his campaign had announced that Rand Paul, who is also running for President, would be campaigning in Kentucky with Bevin.  



Hampton said she would be voting for Paul, only to be chided by Overly that "at least we now have that cleared up."  Overly, however, dodged the question all together on which Democrat she would be voting for the Oval Office.  She questioned whether all the players had come onto the stage yet, and said whoever the nominee is, she will support that person.



All-in-all, neither candidate strayed from the talking points that both they and their gubernatorial candidate running mates have been touting for months.  The crowd made up of Chamber members remained quiet during the debate.
