You probably noticed a lot of activity Friday throughout Paducah. The United Way of Paducah hosted their annual Project United community wide day of service. Hundreds of volunteers completed dozens of projects at various non-profit agencies including Ladies Living Free.

Ladies Living Free, a division of Paducah Lifeline Ministries, is a residential and non-residential community-based recovery program that helps women who struggle with life-controlling problems.

Ladies Living Free received a $500 gift today from the South Paducah Kiwanis Club. The monetary gift was earmarked to provide much needed playground equipment for the clients' children. “Family visitation each weekend will be much more pleasant for our clients and their children” Director Lori Fort said.

The playground project was completed today thanks to the generous gift from South Paducah Kiwanis Club and the volunteer labor provided by employees of Ingram Barge Company.

BFW Engineering, West Kentucky Extension office and several students from Paducah Tilghman High School made it possible for a new patio to be constructed in the family area next to the playground. The patio will be the foundation for a swing overlooking the lake.

The South Paducah Kiwanis Club is part of a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. The club meets every other Thursday evening and always welcomes new members from the community.

The next time you're at the McCracken County Fair or buy a funnel cake from the South Paducah Kiwanis you'll now have an idea where your donations go. Today's project was just one of the many projects made possible by your support.
