Kentucky Oaks Mall Closed Thanksgiving Day

A local shopping destination is joining ranks with other retailers and shutting its doors on Thanksgiving.

Kentucky Oaks Mall Property Manager Michael Felker says the facility will be closed Thanksgiving day, and will not reopen until 6:00 am Friday. He says the decision to close was reached after consulting retailers and members of the community. 

"Family value and the tradition of Thanksgiving are very important to us, and sometimes you need to take a stand." Felker said. 

Anchor stores will still have discretion whether or not to open on Thanksgiving, but schedules have not been finalized. Customers are being advised to check with those stores on an individual basis for hours as the holiday approaches. Cinemark Theater will be open on Thanksgiving. 

The decision to close the mall comes after several other retailers across the country announced they will close on Thanksgiving.
