A former high school fishing coach facing sex abuse charges was in court on Monday, where the Judge presiding over the case recused himself.

John Parks was in McCracken County Circuit Court, where he faces charges of first degree sexual abuse and possession of child pornography.

The McCracken County Circuit Court Clerk says Judge Tony Kitchen recused himself from the case, and Parks' next court appearance will be before Judge Tim Kaltenbach on September 20 at 10:30 am.

Parks was arrested and plead not guilty in February. The McCracken County Sheriff's Department said the charges related to alleged inappropriate contact and electronic communication with a member of the McCracken County High School fishing team. Multiple electronic and storage devices were seized as evidence in the case.
