District Judge Chris Hollowell has formally announced that he will seek re-election to the bench in McCracken District Court. He has served as District II Division Judge since being elected in 2006, and actually filed candidacy paperwork in December.

Judge Hollowell works to dispose of criminal, juvenile, DUI, adult guardianship, probate, small claims, civil, and landlord-tenant cases. He touts the drop in the crime rate, incidence of violent crime, and size of criminal dockets during his tenure.

Hollowell completed training with the National Association of Drug Court Professionals and instituted a misdemeanor drug court program for first-time offenders that continues to treat and rehabilitate young offenders. He also volunteered his time for three years to be Special Circuit Court Judge for the Felony Drug Court Program.

During periods of shrinking judicial budgets, his office has collected more money in fines, court costs and DPA fees than any county of comparable size in the Commonwealth, and was second only to Jefferson County state-wide.

Hollowell believes in accountability, and that the number one job of a judge is to find a way to keep anyone who is convicted from being a repeat offender.

Hollowell is a Lone Oak High School and UK graduate, and got his law degree from UofL's Brandeis School of Law.
