After saying in March that the Mercy Health Iron Mom Half Marathon would be postponed due to COVID-19 concerns, organizers have now announced that the event will be skipped in 2020.

The ongoing pandemic has created some hot spots in parts of the country that have begun reopening, so many events with large crowds are still not taking place.

On Facebook, organizers said, "At this time, the race will be postponed until May 8th, 2021. Keep an eye out for further details. If you have already registered, your registration will be automatically transferred to next year's event."

The annual run is a fundraiser for Family Service Society, which provides crisis assistance to people in McCracken County to meet basic needs like food, clothing, prescriptions and utility assistance. In their March announcement, organizers reminded everyone that the organization's needs continue and encouraged making a contribution.
