A Florida woman was arrested Wednesday on DUI and drug charges after a late night traffic stop on Interstate 24.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says deputies pulled over a vehicle shortly after midnight on I-24 West for traffic violations. The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Ashley Kennedy of Ocala, FL told deputies that she and her young son, who was a passenger in the vehicle, were moving from Florida to Illinois. Kennedy reportedly told deputies she did not have her driver's license, but the vehicle was registered in her name.

Deputies said they determined Kennedy was giving a false name, and was using her sister's information. She was also found to be under the influence of alcohol and illegal drugs. A search of the vehicle revealed 3.7 grams of heroin, 42 grams of marijuana, 9 doses of hydrocodone pills, and paraphernalia items.

Kennedy was arrested and taken to McCracken County Regional Jail. She's charged with DUI first offense, possession of heroin, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a revoked operator’s license, failure to produce insurance card, giving an officer false identifying information, and second degree wanton endangerment.
