Traffic was blocked on I-24 in McCracken County after a vehicle fire shut down the roadway Thursday morning.

At about 6:20 am, a fully engulfed vehicle fire near the 9 mile marker closed the westbound lanes.

Traffic was backed up for more than two miles, even after police diverted traffic onto Exit 11 for a detour into Paducah's south side.

There was no preliminary word of any injuries involved with the fire. An official report of the incident is pending.
