A four-vehicle crash on I-24 near mile marker nine in McCracken County Thursday morning sent five people to area hospitals.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, when deputies arrived on the scene, they found that 36-year-old Autumn Boyd, of Calvert City, had struck a vehicle driven by 60-year-old Wanda Walls, of Dawson Springs, in the rear. This was because traffic had come to a standstill due to an uninvolved motorist, and Boyd was not able to stop in time.

Walls' vehicle was pushed into two additional vehicles, one driven by 69-year-old Garry Hall, of West Paducah, and one driven by 62-year-old Allen Melvin, of West Frankfort, IL. Melvin was accompanied by a passenger, 54-year-old Rex Slane, also of West Frankfort.

All occupants, except Hall, were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
