UPDATE: Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says westbound traffic is backed up to about the US 68 Reidland Exit 16 interchange at Paducah.

Drivers traveling I-24 westbound should be alert for slowing and stopped traffic as they approach the Exit 16 Interchange. Local drivers traveling westbound I-24 into Paducah are being advised to consider a self-detour via US 68, US 62, and/or US 60 through Paducah to avoid this backup.

A contractor plans to restrict westbound traffic to one lane on Interstate 24 in McCracken County starting Wednesday evening.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says westbound lanes of I-24 will be restricted to one lane from around 7 p.m. Wednesday to 3 p.m. Thursday to allow pothole patching on approaches at the Island Creek Bridge. This work zone is just west of the Husband Road Exit 11 Interchange.

Westbound drivers are being advised to watch for equipment, flaggers, and maintenance personnel in the work zone.
