According to Public Information Officer Pam Spencer, construction is postponed, and the section of the Greenway Trail and North 6th Street between Northview and Burnett streets will reopen to the public.
The section had been closed since September 9 to allow a contractor to replace discharge pipes that are set up along the floodwall levee. Officials evaluated the site, and decided to postpone the project to allow the roadway and trail to reopen.
The City Engineer and Public Works Director Rick Murray says the work is postponed until next summer due to time constraints. With fall quickly approaching the water levels and flooding potential of the Ohio River will increase. Due to the nature of the project, the Ohio River will need to be at a low level for an extended period.
