The Post Office on South 4th Street is hosting the event from 8:00 am until noon.
All U.S. citizens, even babies, need their own passports to travel outside the country, and since it takes about two months to receive a passport after applying for it, applying now means you’ll have a passport for spring or summer travel.
Anyone applying for a U.S. passport will need to bring proof of American citizenship. That must be either a state-certified copy of your birth certificate; a previous U.S. passport, or a naturalization certificate. A photo ID, like a driver’s license or other government ID, is also required.
Applicants can bring passport photos with them, or have them made at the post office for $15.
For those age 16 and older, the passport application fee is $135. For those under age 16, the fee is $105. These fees can be paid in cash, by checks or money orders, or with debit and credit cards.
The Paducah Post Office is not usually open for Passports on Saturday, so this special, one-day event will make it really convenient to get ready to travel.
