Average retail gasoline prices in Kentucky have risen about 5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.48 a gallon Sunday. This compares with the national average that has increased 8 cents per gallon to $2.54 a gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

In Paducah, prices range from $2.25 to $2.49 a gallon.  GasBuddy analyst Patrick DeHaan says prices may continue to increase across western Kentucky during this coming week.  He says other areas of Kentucky may see prices rise faster.

Prices Sunday were $1.23 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 7 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

The national average has increased 10 cents per gallon during the last month.

"A rebound in crude oil prices has fueled up gasoline prices, with even bigger spikes in the West Coast, where refinery problems have returned," said DeHaan.

The national average stands at a four month high. Still, all fifty states stood far lower today than a year ago, with the biggest drops in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois, who all stand nearly $1.30 per gallon lower than a year ago.
