An information session will begin every 20 minutes between 2:30 - 5:30 pm at the event, which will be at the McCracken County Public Library.
People in recovery or who are actively addicted, family members, friends, and recovery professionals are encouraged to attend. Local treatment service professionals will be available to answer questions and offer support.
NARCAN, or naloxone, is a nasal spray that can help reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. In January, a McCracken County Sheriff's Deputy likely saved a life when she responded to a home in the Lone Oak area, recognized the situation, and administered NARCAN to the overdose victim.
Fentanyl testing strips will also be available at the event. They can be used to identify if other street drugs have fentanyl mixed into them, which can create an even more dangerous scenario for drug users.
The event is sponsored by Paducah Area Health Connections, KentuckyCare, The McCracken County Coroner, Four Rivers Behavioral Health, McCracken County ASAP, and Four Rivers Behavioral Health's Regional Prevention Center.
