Jobs for Life, a free job training program, is offered by Hope Unlimited this Thursday, March 23rd from 2-4 p.m. at the Hope Unlimited Family Care Center, 1101 Jefferson St. in Paducah.

If you are looking for a job or a better paying one, Jobs for Life is a unique opportunity. The program is designed to build on and go beyond traditional workforce development skills.  The 12 week course focuses on various topics, like resume building and interview skills, as well as confidence, integrity and dignity-through-work.

Hope Unlimited Family Care Center Jobs for Life coordinator Rick Tilley says, "We teach the students to meet their own needs by first being willing to meet the needs of others, specifically the employer.   It's the basics of business economics, so students better understand what their employers must have to stay profitable. Teaching people the reality of what an employer wants and needs is the first step to an employee not only keeping a job, but becoming a real value in the workplace."

While the program is taught in a classroom setting, mentors work one-on-one with students.  After graduation, mentors provide follow-up support during the job search, interview and employment process.  Jobs for Life graduates receive a framed certificate of completion, $50 gift card and job referrals.  Students must call Hope Unlimited Family Care Center to reserve a spot, as class size is limited.

In 2016, 41 out of 43 Hope Unlimited Family Care Center Jobs for Life graduates earned employment.  That's a 95% success rate.

"We care about families.  We recognize many moms and dads in our region are unemployed or under-employed.  If we can support and empower them to find new opportunities, the entire community benefits," says Hope Unlimited Family Care Center Executive Director Nicole Farley.
Jobs for Life is funded, in part, by the United Way of Paducah-McCracken County.
