A South Carolina man suffered serious injuries when his motorcycle hit a car Thursday morning in Paducah’s Fountain Avenue neighborhood.

According to the Paducah Police Department, 19-year-old Ethan R. Hines of Kevil was driving north on Fountain Avenue and told officers that he didn't realize there was a stop sign at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Hines continued into the intersection and his car was hit in the driver’s door by a motorcycle, driven by 36-year-old Orlando C. Watkis of Newberry, SC.

Watkis was taken to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment of what police called serious injuries. Hines suffered a cut to his head.
