Former Fishing Coach Pleads Guilty to Sex Charges

A former fishing coach at McCracken County High School facing sex abuse and child porn charges has accepted a plea deal.

Court records show John Parks pleaded guilty Thursday in McCracken County Circuit Court to a charge of attempted sexual abuse and one count of possession of child pornography.

Parks was originally charged with one count of sexual abuse and 10 counts of possession of child pornography. Those charges stemmed from allegations that he improperly touched a 16-year-old student numerous times, and from images found by law enforcement on devices seized during a search of Parks' home.

Parks faces 18 months in prison for his crimes. Sentencing has been set for April 17.
