A former McCracken County deputy jailer has been sentenced to a year in jail after pleading guilty to sexual misconduct and other charges.

According to court records, Chad Campbell was sentenced Wednesday in McCracken County to 1 year in jail. Campbell pleaded guilty Oct. 26 to charges of sexual misconduct, official misconduct, and harassment.

The charges against Campbell stemmed from an investigation in May 2017, after allegations by a female deputy jailer that Campbell had inappropriately touched and harassed her at work.

A lawsuit was also filed in U.S. District Court against Campbell, Jailer Tonya Ray and the county for violating the rights of the female employee. She claims she had to quit her job out of concern for her physical, emotional and mental well-being. Ray was named in the lawsuit because the plaintiff said the jailer did not act on the employee's complaint, or other complaints against Campbell by female inmates at the jail.
