Endowment Fund Treasurer Charged with Embezzling

The treasurer of a local endowment for scholarships for African-American students has been arrested, accused of embezzling more than $10,000 from the fund.

Paducah Police say members of the board of directors of the McCracken County Community Career Endowment reported earlier this week that they suspected money had been taken from the endowment. 

Police say an investigation by a detective revealed 58-year-old Danny W. Fugate stole more of $10,000.

Fugate was arrested about 3 pm Thursday at his home on a warrant charging him with theft by unlawful taking (more than $10,000). He was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
