El Chico Building Demolished for New Development
By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH, KY - Demolition on the former El Chico restaurant building near Kentucky Oaks Mall began Thursday.

A heavy equipment operator began knocking down the structure around 11 am.

A developer got approval from the Paducah Planning and Zoning Commission last week to move forward with plans to put two buildings on the property. One of those buildings is intended to be a Starbucks Coffee House, and the second, larger building would likely house a retail store and two other quick-service restaurants.

El Chico closed in 2014.
