The Paducah Parks & Recreation Department invites the public to three ceremonies this week at the Paducah Dog Park and the Pat and Jim Brockenborough Rotary Health Park.

A reopening ceremony at the Paducah Dog Park is Thursday at 3 pm. Gift bags will be given to the first 50 dogs in attendance, and door prizes will be given away.

The large dog section of the park closed August 1 so a contractor could improve drainage and add irrigation. The area, which is in Stuart Nelson Park, reopened on November 30.

Two ceremonies are planned for 10 am Friday at the Pat & Jim Brockenborough Rotary Health Park on North 13th Street. They will celebrate phase 2 of work at the park.

A ribbon cutting will be held to celebrate the completion of the Challenge Course, a fitness area with interesting pieces of equipment that challenge agility, balance, and strength.

A groundbreaking ceremony will also be held for the splash pad and restroom facility at the park.

The first phase of the Pat & Jim Brockenborough Rotary Health Park was completed in 2017 and included the installation of the rubberized safety surface at the Paducah Rotary Playground, grading and resurfacing of the grassy lawn area, expansion of the Community Garden along with the installation of a 1/3 mile walking trail, a fitness area, lighting, landscaping, water fountains, and benches.
