At Tuesday's Paducah City Commission Meeting, officials with Lose Design gave an update on the plans for the Indoor Recreation & Aquatic Center.

Lose Design President and CEO Chris Camp and Associate Vice President Sean Guth provided an update on the design of the 77,000 square feet Indoor Recreation and Aquatic Center which will be located in Noble Park. Officials say Noble Park was selected due to ease of access.

The first floor of the facility will contain an office, reception area, climbing wall, a concessions area, locker rooms, child care, gymnasium, a wet/dry classroom, warm water therapy pool with a children's play area, a two-story slide, and a lap pool.

The second floor of the facility will include a fitness area with fitness equipment, space for offices or tenants, and a large running track that will overlook the first floor.

According to Camp it will be a community facility, not just a recreation facility.

He said, "What we're designing for today is wellness opportunities. After school programs, health programs, nutrition programs, drug prevention classes, senior wellness activities, counseling services, swimming lessons, social interaction, all in one place."

Lose Design and their local partner Bacon Farmer Workman Engineering and Testing (BFW) are continuing their work on the design, and preparing the construction documents for bidding.

The City is also currently looking for proposals from recreation center management groups for the operation and management of the facility, with the deadline to submit a proposal set for February 28.
