A Kevil man who was the chief building inspector for McCracken County was killed Thursday morning in a crash on Blandville Road.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded at around 7 a.m. to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Blandville Road and North Gum Springs Road.

The investigation revealed 61-year-old David Flowers of Kevil's vehicle traveled down an embankment and struck a tree head-on.

Flowers was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Flowers had been the department director for building inspections in McCracken County since 2008, according to Deputy County Judge-Executive Steve Doolittle.

He worked with Flowers when they were both city and county employees.

"David was an exceptional guy. He was well-liked and friendly and loyal to his job and his community. He like to help people and solve problems for them. He will sorely missed around here," Doolittle said.
