With high temperatures expected to stick around for the next few days, the McCracken County Office of Emergency Management has designated three buildings as cooling centers.

Those three centers are:

McCracken County Courthouse 300 South 7th Street

McCracken County Emergency Management Complex 3700 Coleman Road

West McCracken County Fire Department 9340 Ogden Landing Road West Paducah

The McCracken County Courthouse is open as a cooling center 24 hours a day.

Those who want to seek relief at the McCracken County Emergency Management Complex or the West McCracken County Fire Department should call 911. The 911 center will immediately dispatch an emergency responder to either building and open it.

Residents are also being asked to check in on family members and neighbors for any signs of heat-related problems. The Paducah Police Department and McCracken County Sheriff's Department will perform checks on people whom neighbors may feel are having problems with the excessive heat.

Concerned citizens may call 911 to ask for a “welfare” check in such a situation.
