The Community Foundation of West Kentucky has announced they are accepting applications from area non-profit organizations, and will be awarding several micro-grants to address two type of projects: (1) urgent, emergency or unexpected needs up to $1,000 and (2) projects that need $1,000 or less.

The foundation said in a press release they will accept applications from non-profits who serve western Kentucky communities in the areas of community arts, educational attainment, health awareness, children’s programs, community improvement and social services.

Applications will accepted until 4 pm on February 1, 2017. Each application will be reviewed for eligibility and applicants must be defined as a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Selection of who receives the grants will be at the sole discretion of the Community Foundation of West Kentucky Grants Committee, with the approval of the Board of Directors. While there are a limited amount of funds, each of the areas of interest will be funded. Submission of an application does not guarantee an award.

Applicants are also required to attend the Philanthropy 360 event on February 22, where the grants will be announced and distributed. Alternates will be chosen to replace any selected organizations that don't attend.

All attendees at Philanthropy 360 will also be invited to a nonprofit financial planning workshop conducted by Dr. Bob Long, and sponsored by Paducah Bank and the Community Foundation in March. There is limited space available, but reservations for the workshop will be made through this event.

The foundation's Philanthropy 360 event will be held at the Market House Theatre Annex, 132 Market House Square, from 12:00 – 1:30 pm. Refreshments will be provided.

Any additional questions may be directed to the Community Foundation of West Kentucky at 270-442-8622.
