Paducah City Commissioner Gerald Watkins has announced that he is dropping out of the race, and will end his bid for another term in office.
Watkins told West Kentucky Star Monday morning that he has withdrawn from the race, saying he wants to spend more time with family.
"I withdrew from the race," Watkins said. "Running for office is a full-time job. For personal and family reasons, I need to focus my attention on my family."
Watkins was elected to the Paducah Board of Commissioners in November 2018. Prior to that, he was a Kentucky state representative for six years.
