A Paducah-based Christian band is organizing a benefit concert to help the family of a girl who was shot on June 9 and died the next day.

The band Rising Life has teamed up with Brek Owens to host a concert and dinner at Faith Center of Paducah on Saturday, June 30, beginning at 4 pm.

All proceeds will benefit the family of 15-year-old Peyton Hurt, as they try to pay medical bills they accumulated after the shooting. Hurt died the next day after several of her organs were donated to others. Hurt said Rising Life was her favorite band, and her father, Chaney, has played drums with the band on several occasions.

The band says BBQ and sides will be sold for $5 per plate, beginning at 4 pm, and the concert will start at 6 pm. Donations will be accepted at the door and during the concert.

A Go Fund Me page was also set up shortly after the shooting to help with medical expenses. A link to that page is below.
