Over the last two months, the flight arrived in Paducah at 6:00 pm and departed for Chicago around 6:30 pm, as of today, the flight will arrive in Paducah around 2:08 pm, with the departure for Chicago set for 2:38 pm.
“We are very excited about these schedule changes,” said Airport Marketing Director Eddie Grant. “Before, you really couldn’t get anywhere beyond Chicago until around midnight local time. But with this new schedule you can make earlier connections to almost anywhere, even if there is a delay.”
He added that new schedule could improve the airline’s flight completion percentage, which for 2017 was 97 percent.
“Between weather related issues, and the fact that is the busiest period of the day for O’Hare, if flights were cancelled, chances are it was the afternoon,” Grant said. “Faced with storms or other traffic issues, United Airlines would often cancel the afternoon flight(s) instead of risk stranding a plane here, or there would be protracted delays.“
He added, “Now that the plane will depart and return to O’Hare much earlier, we are optimistic that it can get from Chicago and back before the weather or traffic has any effect, leading to fewer flight cancellations.”
Grant said he has been told by United Airlines, that the flight will stay at this time forthe foreseeable future. He also said he doesn’t anticipate any changes to the early morning departure and late evening arrival, anytime soon either.
