Employees at the Calvert City site of Ashland, Inc. have donated $1,043 to the Lourdes Women’s Center in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Employees purchased a pink ribbon and the privilege of wearing blue jeans to work.

Over the last three years, Ashland, Inc. has given almost $4,000 to the Lourdes Women’s Center. The funds will help expand the Beads of Courage program in support of women undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Beads of Courage help connect women undergoing the difficult journey of cancer treatment with Nurse Navigators Courtney Leneave, R.N., and Amy Manley, R.N., in the Lourdes Women's Center. The navigators are then able to provide aggressive support, information and guidance about the patient's treatment.  Lourdes is the first hospital in the region and the second hospital in the country to pilot the adult oncology program.

For information about how you can help a woman undergoing cancer treatment, call Lourdes Women’s Center at 270-538-5867.
