The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is again reminding everyone that as far as the Brookport Bridge is concerned, a "ROAD CLOSED" sign is the same as a "NO TRESPASSING" sign.

The agency says anyone who is walking, hiking, biking, or involved in other unauthorized activity on the bridge between Paducah and Brookport while it is closed can be issued a citation by law enforcement. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is responsible for maintaining public safety and assuring the integrity of infrastructure, and has discussed with area police agencies about appropriate law enforcement response if people continue to get on the bridge.

Officers will be checking the bridge at various times during the day and issuing citations as needed.

The Greenway Trail Tunnel project is on track to allow the Brookport Bridge to reopen around July 28th.
