One more person has been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus in McCracken County.

In a Saturday press release, the Purchase District Health Department says they have been notified of one additional case of COVID-19, for a total of fourteen positive cases since March 23.

The 33-year-old woman tested positive on Friday. The health department says she is not hospitalized and is self-quarantined. They are investigating anyone who may have been exposed to the woman and will notify them as needed.

Kent Koster with the health department reminds everyone that, “The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However, there are simple preventative actions you can do.”

He says social distancing, frequent hand washing and other recommendations from the CDC are essential in protecting yourself and others.

Symptoms of COVID-19 may include fever, cough or shortness of breath.  Anyone who is experiencing symptoms should first contact their primary care medical provider.

If you are worried or concerned, but otherwise healthy, please see kycovid19.ky.gov for additional information or call the Ky COVID-19 hotline at 1-800-722-5725.
