"We are working with local nurseries to hopefully encourage even more planting of new dogwoods in an effort to replace those that were damaged in the ice storm," said Dabney Haugh, CBB Dogwood Trail co-chairman. "Seeing the young dogwoods around town this week makes us hopeful that our community is planting and looking forward to future springtime enjoyment of Paducah's lovely Dogwood Trail celebration." Eads, Edwards, James Sanders, Montgomery Gardens, and Wahl's will all be selling their dogwood trees this Saturday from 10 am until 2 pm for a special price. DOGWOOD TREE SALE
To encourage planting dogwoods, the Civic Beautification Board has partnered with five local nurseries to sell all kinds and sizes of dogwoods this Saturday, March 31, from 10 am - 2 pm. Eads, Edwards, James Sanders, Montgomery Gardens, and Wahl's will offer their dogwood trees, all sizes, for the best price of the year during these four hours. Civic Beautification Board members will be at each location during this time to answer questions and supply information for the proper planting locations, actual planting and care of the dogwood. $2 from the sale of each tree will go toward purchasing dogwoods for the Children's Memorial Garden at Noble Park.
DOGWOOD TRAIL BICYCLE RIDE
BikeWorld is once again organizing a bike ride that will tour Paducah's Dogwood Trail this Sunday, April 1. The date was originally planned for April 15, but the early blooming moved plans up two weeks. The ride will start at 2:30 pm at BikeWorld, 809 Joe Clifton Drive (North 28th St.) and weave through neighborhoods, returning to BikeWorld where those participating in the ride will have a cookout. The community is invited to take part in the spring celebration ride and cookout. Last year over 250 leisurely rode the trail and returned to enjoy an afternoon of grilling and fellowshiping with other bicyclists.
