The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet notified the City of Paducah Thursday that a plan has been developed to replace the drainage structure on North 32nd Street near the New Haven Assisted Living Center. Work is set to begin after the first of the year.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet closed the street in September. Since then, they have conducted a watershed study and worked with the state to set aside funding for the project.
The installation work will last four to six weeks depending upon the weather.
Mayor Brandi Harless said, “This is great news. The Cabinet has been very cooperative in helping move this project forward quicker than was expected. With approximately 4,000 vehicles travelling this section of North 32ndStreet on a daily basis, it is important that this project be completed in a timely manner. We are thankful for the great working relationship with our district transportation representatives.”
The project will involve the installation of a pre-fabricated aluminum arch culvert which is expected to be delivered in mid-January.
