Two accidents at the same location within minutes of one another were reported to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department Sunday morning. Mercy Regional Ambulance and the McCracken County Sheriff's Department responded to the calls around 2:45 a.m.

One of the E911 calls reported a gold car, the other caller reported a motorcycle.

When deputies arrived at 339 South Friendship Road, they found the motorcycle lying on its side just off the road and the driver, 34-year-old Ryan Weaver of Kevil, running away on foot. Deputies found Weaver behind a nearby home. Weaver was treated on scene and transported by ambulance to Western Baptist ER for non life-threatening injuries.

It was obvious from damage to the yard in the area that a car had also recently run off the roadway, struck an earth embankment and tracks, then through the front yard and back onto the roadway. The vehicle and the driver, 34-year-old Dustin Russell of Wickliffe, were located on Limerick Drive a few minutes later. The vehicle damage, partial license plate, and matching description provided by the home owner confirmed this was the vehicle that had wrecked just before the motorcycle collision.

Further investigation indicated both men knew each other and had just left from a local bar.

Police said Russell failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the roadway then Weaver also ran off the roadway in the same location as he attempted to stop and check on his friend. Both men were charged with DUI first offense and leaving the scene of an accident. Police said speed and alcohol were obvious factors in the accidents.
