The Marshall County Sheriff's Office is launching a body-cam initiative to be funded through the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hilbrecht made the announcement on Wednesday, a week after his agency was one of one hundred seventy named to receive a portion of $6 million in a grant program between the Bureau of Justice Assistance and Justice and Security Strategies.
Hilbrecht said his department will be receiving a grant of $38,000 once the contract is complete. Then a bid process will take place before purchasing equipment.
The Bureau of Justice Assistance is a part of the U.S. Department of Justice. Justice and Security Strategies is a woman-and-minority-owned criminal justice consulting firm.
