Christian County man dies in house fire

An early Wednesday morning fire in Christian County destroyed a home and left its owner dead.

WKDZ reported the fire occurred in the Herndon area on Striped Bridge Road. 

Christian County fire responders said when they arrived at the residence just before 1:30 am, they found it fully engulfed and the second story had collapsed.

Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel said once the fire was extinguished, the body of the homeowner, 83-year-old Stephen Finchum, was found inside. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
