Greater Paducah Economic Development announced Friday that Amazon is set to open a last-mile distribution center in Paducah.

An Amazon last mile facility is a location where packages are processed for final delivery to customers. The Paducah center will deliver across the four-state region.

The new 72,500-square-foot facility is located in Industrial Park West at Commerce Drive near I-24 Exit 3.

GPED said in a press release that fellow community partners have worked closely with the Amazon team over the past 18 months to bring the project to Paducah.

"Paducah and McCracken County is the regional epicenter of the surrounding four state area representing over 500,000 people. We are excited about the new facility, the jobs, and the capital investment Amazon and its partners are bringing to our community," said Bruce Wilcox, President/CEO of GPED.

Local officials have widely supported the project.

Paducah Mayor George Bray said, “We often talk about Paducah-McCracken County’s centralized location for distribution. The GPED staff and board have worked tirelessly to attract companies looking to locate in Paducah. This is a big win and a significant investment by Amazon.”

McCracken County Judge Executive Craig Clymer added, "The Amazon last-mile delivery center is another piece of the puzzle in strengthening our community as a hub for growth. Amazon will be an outstanding partner with us."

The new facility is expected to create significant employment opportunities and further advance Paducah's position as a growing logistics and distribution center in the region.
